March 30, 2012

the week that was 30 March 2012

Well Monday was definitely a highlight as I enjoyed two hours of amazing pampering at Harbour Day Spa.  In case you missed it, you can read my review of my time at the day spa right here.

On Tuesday I put together a little party table to celebrate the birthday of
the most beautiful girl I've ever met...

And on Wednesday, I threw together this little Easter table....

By Thursday, I came to the conclusion that I was one slack housewife
and spent the day cleaning the house...
all while my BFF took herself up to the new and improved
Westfield Carindale without me.

I know.  I'm just as shocked as you are.

Fancy my local shopping centre unveiling it's new look and not actually inviting me to attend.

But don't worry because I'm about to head up there right now and do some hardcore window shopping.
And possibly some actual shopping.

And so we arrive at today.
 Friday.
I sent Sophie off to school in her Easter Hat,
which I may or may not have made for her....

before letting the kids eat chocolate for breakfast....
It's just one of the may ploys I use in my attempt to win
Mother Of The Year.

Have a great weekend everyone.
See you on the flip side

March 29, 2012

so I ate my way around new zealand last week....

Say what you will about the kiwis, but they sure know how to do food.
And I know how to inhale it.
Look....

Thursday:

This is a kiwi tradition, French Onion Dip and yes, it's delicious.
I whipped it up in my cousin's brand spanking new fancy pants kitchen
while she knocked up some other equally exotic dish for dinner.

Meanwhile, my Aunty whipped up this little number,
of which I may or may not have had several helpings....

Friday:
My cousin provided me with a very classy dessert.
Washed down with a good kiwi bubbly.

Saturday:
Retro cafe, Smith The Grocer, provided me with a personalised coffee...

and a very expensive Marmite ration
(apparently Marmite is running out in NZ...ookkkay then)

While the venue for my godson's 21st supplied these little numbers....

and just look at this 21st cake.
It's a volcano.
Made by another Aunty (I have a few of them)
It's made out of chocolate icing, crunchie bars, chocolate roll ups & picnic bars.
Sugar Coma anyone?

Sunday:
I flew home.
Possibly several kilos heavier than when I left.

How about you?
Eaten anything fabulous lately?

All I have to do is give this very trustworthy, random man named Ashley Warwick my full contact details and bingo! The money will be mine.  All mine. Which is great timing, because my credit card has mysteriously wracked up some rather large figures on it lately and a lazy million bucks would certainly see the end of that little problem...

Seriously?!
How gullible do these people think we are?!

Easter Table At Our Place

So I've finally got around to throwing a little Easter table together at our place.
I've gone for a really simple design.
Here's what I've come up with so far....

The printables were purchased from Sweet Scarlet Designs and everything else was sitting in my cupboard, ready and waiting to be used!  I'm sure I'll add to the table over the coming days...I think some Easter cupcakes and and biscuits would be a welcome addition.  Personally, I think the whole 'decorating for Easter' thing is a bit of overkill, but the kids love it and let's face it...so do I!!

How about you?
Do you decorate for Easter?
And have I mentioned that I love it sick when I get comments??
I totally do, so don't be shy...comment away!

Harbour Day Spa

So you'll never guess where I spent two blissful hours today....

Yes, I was lucky enough to be invited as a guest of
to experience their pampering,
which I have to say is absolutely first class all the way.
Let's take a look shall we?....

First up is the reception area,
where I was greeted by the friendliest staff I think I've ever come across.

And here's the lovely area that I was escorted to upon arrival.
Yes, that's a pot of soothing herbal tea for guests to enjoy while filling out their details
and answering a quick questionnaire about their skin.

There were lots of gorgeous products on display
including emerginC, O Cosmedics and Sircuit Skin Cosmeceuticals.

Some of the current specials offer makeup application after your facial.
What a fabulous idea...no more walking out of a treatment with a makeup less face!

And here's where you'd be sitting if you choose that particular package....

Or perhaps you'd prefer to visit their hair salon,
featuring one magnificent view....

But back to my amazing treatment.
After I'd filled out my questionnaire, I was taken to the changing room
where a robe and slippers were waiting....

All ready to go...

I then made my way to
The Tranquility Room,
which despite the poor quality of this photo, really is very tranquil.

After relaxing with a refreshing water and a bowl of healthy almonds and apricots,
I was greeted by Laura who was to be my therapist for my visit.

Laura, like all the staff at the salon, was impeccably groomed, very well spoken and extremely friendly. And she didn't bat an eyelid when she had to look at my old lady, skin damaged, wrinkle ridden skin...probably because she used this fancy machine which took a picture of my face and then determined all sorts of amazing things such as the texture, redness, pigmentation levels of my skin.

Laura spoke to me at length about my skin, which I found really informative,
and based my facial around the skin analysis (very clever!)

So then it was into the treatment room for what can only be described as
The Best Facial Ever.
Not even kidding.

I knew we were off to a good start when things involved a floral foot soak
and a lemongrass infused foot exfoliation.

From there I enjoyed a back and shoulder massage
followed by the most amazing facial I've ever had.

Not only was my skin cleansed, exfoliated & hydrated
but my hands also enjoyed a paraffin treatment
while my scalp had one incredible massage.

After two blissful hours of pampering
I was guided back to The Tranquility Room
where Laura thoughtfully provided me with a complete Skin Prescription Form,
which outlined the various products that would be best suited for my skin.

I was then provided with a coffee (yes, they've thought of everything!)
and wondering how on earth I was going to muster the energy to get in the car and pick up the kids.

If you live in Brisbane, or are planning a holiday to Brisbane anytime soon,
the Harbour Day Spa absolutely needs to be on your 'to-do' list.

They also have a salon on the Gold Coast
and both salons currently have a number of specials on offer.

Personally, I think know what I'll be asking for this Mothers Day!

Thank you so much to the wonderful staff at Harbour Day Spa for inviting me to their salon.
My complimentary treatment was provided for review purposes
in accordance with my Disclosure Policy.

I'm outta here! (but only for the weekend)

Tomorrow I'm heading on a little getaway to attend my Godson's 21st, so there won't be any action on my blog for the next 5 days. I know, I know, I should've organised for a few guest posts, or written a few posts in advance and scheduled them to be posted but, well, I didn't.

I did however, manage to find the time to do a quick search regarding my baggage allowance on my fave airline, V Australia. And here's what I found:

Note: The only item that can occupy a seat (apart from a guest) is a cello. If you are travelling with a cello please call our Guest Contact Centre to book an extra seat.

Shit. I totally forgot to buy my cello a seat.

Where I wish I was sitting.
Business Class bar.

Where I'll actually be sitting.
Squished in Economy.
Without my cello.
How about you?
Ever forgot to book your cello a seat?
Tell me everything....

Dear Kmart

Dear Kmart,

I hardly ever visit you, but today I had 10 minutes to kill before an eye brow wax, so I wandered through your doors.  And just look at what I found...

A whole section of fabulous lollies, which would be perfect for a party table.
And they're only $5 a jar.
Who knew?!

Then I discovered the stationery aisle.
Be. Still. My. Beating. Heart.

That packet of two notebooks was only $2!

While this tube of colouring pencils,
with a built in pencil sharpener on the lid (genius),
is only $3...

They would make perfect little presents for Easter.
You know, if like me, you don't like the sugar high that comes with
the visit from the Easter Bunny.

Thanks Kmart, for opening my eyes to a whole new world of bargain shopping.
Your marketing campaign is bang on,
you really do offer
Irresistibly Low Prices.
On Everything.
Everyday.

Sincerely,
A New Customer
